Profile and Technique Guide

The illustrated guide below will help explain the various ready to order edge treatments available for all of our wall plaques and selected bases. Most treatments may also be applied to any planer edge surface if desired. We have also included our most popular art techniques used to augment our unique fired sandstone works of art.

Coved Edge

An arch and vertical rise applied to the contours of the award to create and elegant profile with enhanced visual appeal through the play of light and shadow.

Recessed Edge

A semi circle is carved into the award contour edges to create a second frame to increase visual interest.

Pebble Edge

The contour edges of the award are chiseled and rounded to create a traditional sculptural effect and style.

Rounded Edge

Edges are rounded off with an arched slope on contour edge. May also be applied to other parts of the award or trophy.

Plain Edge

Contour edges are a crisp ninety degree angle. The treatment is used mostly for bases and some art elements.

Sloped Base

Oval Base

Basic Bases

We offer two basic bases for most desk and designer series awards. The slope base is the traditional angled base with space to display three or more lines of text on a metal plate. The oval base is a more distinctive shape, but can not accommodate most personalization plates. We can customized the dimensions of any slope base to accommodate your requirements at a nominal or no fee dependent on size and award class.

Chiseled Edge

This rough cut with smoothed edges is perfect captures the feel of traditional stone work or a mountain range.

Pebble Edge

This refined version of the chiseled treatment with rounded edges and indentations that creates a pleasing shape like a river smoothed pebble.
